In the lush mountains of Gaitania, Planadas, lies Finca La Leona, a family-run estate where resilience and excellence grow side by side. Once managed by Afranio Enciso and his son, the farm became a beacon of innovation in post-harvest processing and coffee variety experimentation… efforts that led them to an 8th-place finish in the 2015 Cup of Excellence among over a thousand competing coffees.
Tragedy struck when Afranio’s son passed away, leading the farm to fall silent for more than two years. But from that grief rose new leadership and hope. Today, Laura Enciso, Afranio’s daughter, has taken the reins, one of the few women leading a coffee operation in Colombia. She now oversees the farm’s commercial and marketing efforts, while Afranio continues to work closely with pickers in the fields, ensuring every harvest reflects the same dedication and care that has defined La Leona for decades.
In the southern highlands of Tolima, La Leona’s terroir produces exceptional coffee… balanced, refined, and deeply connected to the land and family behind it. Each lot tells a story of perseverance, innovation, and generational strength, a legacy carried forward with pride and purpose.
